why do you think the hooks are postwar? They are used on military canteens from the 20ies and the early M31. I think they are old.

The carabiner hooks might be period but they don't make sense on the strap but on a canteen. The model used on straps had a square shape. I would think it is a made up. What is the width of the strap?

It's a post war bundeswehr strap, Assmann made the hooks for that equipment. They made hardware till the 70's I think.
