      INHO this stamp is absolute fantasy.. - can we see more pictures of the shovel - any markings on the blade ??
      cover is post war - but I believe You know that

        This stamp means "I wish I was something other than an ordinary welded (not even riveted) plain old common East German shovel".

        Thats about it. I have seen some WWII shovels with big stamps pressed into the wood, but never a post-mark looking stamp like that.

          Thanks guys, I don't know much about field gear, my father in law got this from a buddy who has a secondhand shop...thanks for the info.

            Exactly....It appears to be a stamp from the OKW....The German High Command....I do NOT honestly believe the high command was in charge of proofing shovels .....Obviously something done to misrepresent the item...Bodes
