    Camo Verbandkasten any thoughts?

    Dear all,

This Verbandkasten resides already some time in my collection and upon received it, I never really could make out if it is original applied camouflage or made to decieve.
I would like to know your opinions on it.
Camouflage is very strong and still vivid ( notice I took photographs both with and without flash).
Some local collectors doubting it's wartime done.

I have another camo one which got thumbs up overhere but I'm not able to make comparison due to lack of knowlegde.

Don't be too gentle, I'm here to learn

    Best regards,

    Jan B.

Quite hard to judge from these photos, but I like it more than I don't... it certainly doesn't look recently added either way!

I like it. Was apparently ordnance yellow originally.

Tough to tell from the photos. I think it has a chance, and agree with Ed that it is a factory piece in ordnance tan with a green over spray. Obviously, the lettering and cross were intentionally avoided and not sure why they would need to do that. Would like to handle such a piece.

I think a pimped original tan box!
Why should a Verbandkasten be camoed? It was inside a car, tank...

                      Best regards

I'm with Pat, Ed and Willi, it has a good chance. Some areas where paint is missing don't show overpainted camo, so the original tan and the camo were lost together. Some daylight close-ups would confirm.

Thanks to all members for their input so far.

The basis is a indeed tan painted standard verbandkasten. Inside it looks like grey paint.

Seems not easy to have solid opinion based on these photographs. I will provide more and detailed photographs taken in daylight asap.

                            Best regards,

                            Jan B.

With all respect but if you wouldn't believe in camouflaged items because they were inside a vehicle or not directly visible for that matter ( this goes further then just verbandkasten), you can miss some good original painted pieces of fieldgear or equipement.

Anyway, I'm sure that these verhicle verbandkasten were also used at first aid stations, bunkers,... so more statically and not just stored inside vehicles.

                              Here my other one :
