    MG42 Pouch bdt45

    Hello,

I have received this MG pouch from a non-collector person of Bavaria. It has the stamp bdt45 (Salewa Lederwarenfabrik G.m.b.H. in München). The construction looks very simplified even unfinished. It looks made of Italian leather, but the quality of this later is quite poor, it has the aspect of boilled paper or cardboard, but not like regular Pressstof. The stamp is up-side-down.

One of these pouches has been presented here:
    http://wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/s...490728&page=10

    And another one here:
    http://www.bodenfund-originale.de/mg42-zubehoer.html

When I compare with a pressed cardboard MG42 pouch, the stiching seams identical and fit with period made equipments.

Similar leather (or material) can be found on Luftschutz helmet straps and one of my late war 98k pouch has a similar low quality leather:

What is your opinion on this MG42 pouch?

    Best regards

I am certainly not one you should take advice from, when it comes to Field gear, but I like the way it looks. Jim
