late war bread bag straps?

I got this strap, which is made of a tropical like webbing, not a usual piece, at least for me, is this some late war bread bag strap? or for something else?

thanks, as I've checked it again, it's much shorter than the bread bag straps used to be, for example it is totally impossible to mount it onto a helmet, is it not possible that this was meant to an MG spare barrel carrier or something similar?
