    Sirax Scheuerpulver, wartime?

    Hi all,

recently I've got these 2 sirax scheuerpulver packages and wanted to know if they are from the WWII-era (or older).

I did find some info about the producer, and Sirax was made between the 20's and the 70's. The packages I've found online look more recent then these ones but I want to make sure.

Undated commercial items are difficult to date. Those by the sidol Werke are extremely difficult. They made a lot of different products and they changed there designs back and forth a lot during their history. The few prewar and wartime ads I found showed the products with the black crow, a high heel for shoe cream or no logo at all.

I can't say definitively when the man with the beard logo was introduced. The only ads I've seen date from the early 1950s. However I did use pictures of some of their products with the bearded man in my book. Why? There is some speculation and circumstantial evidence that logo was used during the war. The German historical museum in Berlin has a shoe cream tin with the logo they date to 1920-30. Some tins are priced in Reich currency (which was also used after the war).

I like your example but would give it a 50-50 chance of being wartime based on what we know today. jim
