This one definately shows M39 Y-straps ( with aluminium parts ). So as mentioned some unit have them for field test ( and this photo from Fall Weiss proofs it).

Another interesting one from 1939: does the guard have some kind of strange pouch or is it just gasplane that loosened on gasmask can`s strap?

I too would go with Gasplane that has slipped.

Missing pictures of Y straps added

I am adding some missing and some new pictures with what looks like gas mask in rubber coating on the back of German soldier, disarming Polish soldiers in 1939.

Yes, I have noticed that links are inactive and loaded pictures from my archive. These are good quality and important pictures. It would be shame to loose them.

Bakelite case for binocular

I have discovered very good picture showing bakelite case for 6x30 Dienstglas binocular. Picture was probably taken on the 1st of September 1939, during assaulting Poczta Polska building in Gdańsk (Danzig) by Heimwehr Danzig unit. Man of Heimwehr Danzig unit is carrying on his belt a shiny bakelite case for Dienstglas binocular. Question for bakelite items lovers. When German Army started to use bakelite equipment, especially cases for binoculars, compasses, fuses, etc.

Thanks. Next step can be even harder. I would like to find a picture of A-frame in service during 1939 campaign in Poland and nice, 1939 dated, example of A-frame.
