Mess Tin Question???????????

Hi everyone,

I have been looking at this mess tin and have a few questions. This mess tin is just marked "AWC", no date, on both upper and lower parts. Was this a common occurrence? I have always been leery of undated WH field equipment especially mess tins.

IMHO it looks like a nice late war mess kit to me. I have a few dated 45. I've also handled a few with no markings at all. Jim

Steve, lets face it. is it real? probably... but are you going to find one of equal (or near equal) condition with a makers mark and date on it a little down the road? probably. is it worth the (chances are) loss of money to upgrade to the piece you want when it comes around. only you can decide that. I just dont like to upgrade anymore. especially with this forum. you can practically get ahold of anything with the help of others here at some point. me, I would wait... but thats up to you. Glenn

I have exactly the same but mine is marked MKL 44.

mine is Marked "WJ 43" and is primed red thoughout. I have seen a few of the tin shown here. Im sure its good but they come up every couple weeks on ebay. your bound to see a good one within the next 2 months.
