    BAL stamp

    Hi

What means the BAL stamp? I know it's a kind of LW acceptence proof found from time to time on equipment; but can someone give me the story. I just saw the pic is pretty small anyway I hope you can see the stamp.

    Regards
    Kim

      Hi kim,
All I know about Bal stamps is like you said they are found mostly on luftwaffe equipment like avionics and metal components, finding one on leather like this is quite interesting!

            Hi Mike

            Thanks for the answer.
I know the L.B.A is equal to Luftwaffe Bekleidungs Amt or likely! So what we have here in this suggestion is; the letters are moved around?? Well!!

              Bal

You are welcome, but still it is only a suggestion. I really have no idea either, what I suggested seemed logical.

              Regards,
              Mike

                  Hi
                  BAL is Betriebs Aufsicht Lieferbedingungen
Its the same as a WaA stamp,
                  Betriebs ( enterprise ) Aufsicht ( supervision ) Lieferbedingungen ( terms of delivery )

                  best regrads to all

                      Hi Siegfried

Great news and thanks for the translation finally. I understand a little German so it's fine for me. I somehow have guessed it was a acceptance stamp like the WaA!
But still do someone know when and why the BAL was introduced? The LW have there own WaA stamp so to speak; we know the special LW eagle with the number under the wing.
Could it be so as the words say's a kind of "go" stamp used by and inside civilian company's for supervision/acceptance. In opposite to the military WaA.

                      Thanks a regards
                      Kim

from what I under stand from restoring aircraft it is an acceptance stamp showing that it has been approved for luftwaffe use.

Thank you for the info so far.

Very often the same "squared off" circle can be found with only "BA" inside. Would that be a later variant denoting only Betriebs Aufsicht? I have encountered both variants on the folding shovel carriers.

The different between BA and BAL stamp is, that the BAL stamp came from official supervision of the German Wehrmacht, the BA stamp came from an supervision of the factory.
