    Questions On Folding Shovel Carrier

    Hi all,

I have been looking at this folding shovel and would like your opinions on it. The leather carrier is what I'm most concerned with. Please give feed back because I have very little knowledge on leather carriers. or

    Thank you. Steve

              Well... difficult to say...

              To be honest, i think it's .. I see a few features I don't like...
              is it stamped somewhere ?

If it's , it must be unissued, because it looks brandnew, and the loop which goes through the belt isn't stitched, which I believe was almost allways done (field modification ?) otherwise the shovel would be lost......

              Just my .2 cents

              Tom

                Hi

I think we are back in the same "good ole" debate again!! To me the carrier look correct and nice from the distance! So for giving you my best and honest opinion! I need some more detailed pics and informations something about markings or/and numbers.

I would like to comment too: We should never forget in out judgment of equipment to speak about equipment manufactured in a long period of war with all kind of shortage both to material and skilled manpower a constantly reality. Therefore rather large differences should occour naturally even the equipment was produced in order to blueprints. Again some equipment was actually produced outside of Germany thrus under German supervision.

Anyway the shovel looks 100% and with few comments the carriers too and looking forward to see details.

                Regards
                Kim

                  Hi guys,

According to the dealer there are no markings on the carrier. This item is an ebay deal. I like the shovel anway.

I have never seen a carrier with a retaining stud on the belt loop?

                  hmmm

(P.S. the dealer also is selling a fake "A" frame and bag and is calling it authentic! Hmmmmm )

                  Steve

Im torn on this one. I think the shovel is a very nice piece , its just that carrier. sure looks good but as was stated before. if real it surely couldnt have been issued. is there an inspection period? Glenn

I would save my money for something else! The carrier is not good at all. A few details of the stitching doesn't check out. But the real give-away is the overall appearence. It looks aged (artificially) while there are no real signs of wear. A real one can be unused and still look brand new. The artificial aging the fakers use is to cover up the fact that they can't get the materials to look 100% correct. The typical German leather is never greased up like that! From my personal experience I must say that I have only seen the first type carrier (with lid) in real leather. While I have only seen the second model made of Presstoff (but there might of course be cross-over models....)

I saw this piece and others from the same seller on ebay. all his pieces are "unissued". I dont know, how many unissued pieces can you have and then be into selling them all at once. I would personally pass on it myself. Glenn

                              Hi

I agree with all you guy's about the comments but anyway I still was interested to see some close up pic for any reason.
