New tool box with Fl. number

    Hello all,

I got this nice toolbox with a lot of marked tools and some "strange" tools.
Can you tell me the purpose of the toolbox?

    Regards

Looks like a Luftwaffe tool box. I don't know if for a mechanic of for an armorer, but i would think it's for the last, seeing the logo.

That last Scissor-like one might be for placing the meat in the barbecue ,sorry, just a joke

Thank you Charles for your answer! Your assumption was right.
I searched the web and found this one at the webshop of a trader: http://raskantik.com/visprodukt.asp?id=1688&katId=10

But I can't find other informations

I will ask at the firearms forum ...

        Regards

          Hello Stephan,

I doubt much it is for small weapons such as Kar 98k or pistols. As it is a Luftwaffe item with an Fl code I would think it is for onboard weapons, perhaps for adjusting or repairing the mounts for MGs and Bordkanonen. I don't know much German but I believe it reads "Small tool box for weapon devices" but NOT "tool box for small weapon devices".

It might be very difficult to find the right manual showing all the contents, but anyhow, your box seems quite complete.

Ok - that sounds reasonable. Btw the box came from an old house near the Salzburg, Austria airport.

I hope we will finally find some more information!

Edit: I found this also this one: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=waffenmeister

Well, seems I had already answered that question before Now you know what is missing in it and you know what it is called. You will have to look for LW weapon maintenance manuals. I believe there is an American web dealing with scanned original weapon manuals, browse around and you might find it.

Yep, that could be lens cleaning paper...but I don't think it originally belonged to that box. See the contents in this other one:

Can you please post a good picture of the lens paper?
Want to do some research about it.

Hi , it's an armourer's tool box for the MG17 machine gun, I have one of these tool boxes, but it has more tools in it, what it doesn't have is the expanding tool grip?, the scissor like item, so now I know what went into the compartment below the fixed shelf.

                        Hello,

Is it specifically for MG17 or for LW MGs in general (MG15, 17, 81) ?
