question about greatcoat / blanket roll

Hi everyone...

I'm working on the article on the A frame for my web site at the moment, but I need some info.

Does anyone know the regulations on how to roll the greatcoat and the blanket to put it over the A frame / backpack ??

Any help is welcome !!

I hear that Tom. I have been wanting to know how a blanket would be rolled up on an A frame. hope We can get some info. Glenn

The very same way it would have been secured to a rucksack !I've seen pictures showing ammo boxes,clusters of M24s,shoes and even loaves attached to A-frames but blankets and greatcoats were rather left on the Vehicles inside the rucksacks(when they still had vehicles I mean!).
The A-frame was intended as a true "assault-pack" and even if there are provisions for the blanket and greatcoat in my opinion it wasn't so widespread even if I do have seen a few pictures of German soldiers in Italy towards the end of the war with blankets and even a second zelt secured to their frames,I'll look for them!

Just a thought, but I wander if they didn't attach them in the same way it was done with assault packs in WWI. I used to have an aritcle on it somewhere, that I think came out of an old Militaria magazine. Rather than rolled, the blanket was folded and then the "rough ends" folded under and attached to the pack, tornister, ruck with the straps securing these folded ends. Interesting...
