    Tan painted MG leather pouch

    Hello,

I would like to get your opinion about this item. I know that at least one of these tropical camo pouch is known and pictured in a book, but what about this one?

    thank you!

    best regards

Can you show some pics of the inside and from under?

      metallic inner parts are missing.
I don't have pics of the under side, I will try to get some soon but I can tell you that the metallic part to hold the leather strap is painted too.

Can you see any stamps, maker's codes or WaAs?

No, I see nothing. I have seen some many good ones with so weak maker's codes that I think if there were some on this one, they would have disappeared under the paint.

This model was a bit controversial but has been considered good. Some have a very small stamp on the closing strap. I wouldn't consider it tropical paint but more late war tan dunkelgelb repaint, if original.

              ok thank you!
What kind of stamp? (3 letters? date? If date, 194X or 4X?)

              regards

Have a look at the following thread. I believe it is the same model as your's. There is a WaA and a little diamond stamp over it. That one seems to be a fake SS stamp, in the opinion of some members.

These could be the same making as the epf 1945 you can see in this other thread. The inside is stamps after the producer of this kind of presstoff: Copama See in this other thread:

IMO Paint is postwar. there isnt any traces of use. This type of pouches always are in mint condition.

It could well be so. Parhaps someone wanting a tan prestoff gunner pouch...BTW, are you sure there is no stamp? I can see something on the closing strap, and it looks like a 194x something...

                      Hi Carles,

You are right, if I look closely I see some stamps on the strap! I had no idea they could be there! In my mind it was always on the back side or inside!
So yes, there is a 1943 stamp, a WaA and a SS diamond one on the closing strap

+1 on that These 'SS' marked ones especially, they're always mint! I think someone just wanted a tan pouch or to sell it for the price of one...
