    Contents of Wehrmacht bandage

    Hello!

I just joined the forum after browsing on here for years.

So my first post is about bandages. What was actually in the little bandage wrappers that were kept in the small pocket of the tunic? Was is a gauze or like a cotton wrap or perhaps something completely different? I just ordered 5 reproduction bandage wrappers dated 1943 and was wondering what to put in them and how to put them in.

Thanks for all the help and sorry if this is in the wrong section, i couldnt find a medical section.

      Hi,

I'm sure more knowledgeable members will add some more useful information but until then the only picture I have of the contents of a field dressing is on page 97 of the excellent book "Feldbluse The German soldiers field tunic" by Laurent Huart & Jean - Philippe Borg.

According to the text and photo, the package contained a bandage and a length of gauze.

      Hope this helps.

I was under the impression that the bandage had a cloth wrapper with string, then the oilcloth cover, then as you see inside? no safetypin like the british versions

Thanks for showing the unwrapped bandage Radek. I too have always wondered about what type of materials were used in their making.
