    Boots

I have find in antique shop in Germany this pair of boots.

Inside is one stamp in "cirillico" (russian write)

So I think that are russian reissued from German.

    What do you think?

    ciao a tutti alter-art....................stefano

Hi Stefano, the boots are not Russian in my opinion. Wartime Russian enlisted mans boots, "Shapogi" had the top part of the boot made out of an artificial material made from tar covered canvas and not made out of leather, so that rules these out. Russian Officers had all leather boots. But the style of the top of the boot is different to what is normally seen? They are usually found with a closer fitting top and made from a soft leather.

Russian boots were never fitted with any iron heel and toe plates or hob nail studs. The Russians found that this helped transmit the cold to the foot. Russian boots often had a rubber sole. So this addition would be German, if they were used by the Germans.

Other countries which they might come from could be Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, etc. I am only going by the Cyrillic lettering as I know nothing about the boots used by these nations

          Cheers, Ade.
