I just need some opinions about that folding shovel carrier. 100% original ?

Back rivets look like they were repainted black.

Dear friends,

I am the seller of this cover/carrier (with shovel). It is on e-stand http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=838459.
Actually, sold now, but the buyer is very carefull with the authenticity of this item. I have no problems with that: I am collector too, and I do support positive discussion and sharing of info on our hobby! And of course, e-stand rules apply upon returning items.

As for this cover in particular, I do not see any problems. IMO:
- 100% Original, also stitching, markings, etc.
- Yes, the rivets are black. IMO not repainted, but factory painted during the war. Unfortunatelly, I do not have the item anymore at hand (it is in the post) so I can not provide close-ups. The rivets on the back are still well covered/protected. The ones on the front were also black, but some paint came of.
- Stitching is Original. The leather flap (used to attach the shovel to the belt) has no metal rivet, but the re-inforced stitching. Probably, due to the weight, the metal rivet and hole (in the leather) tend to loose when in use. The re-enforcement/stitching is common seen on many shovels.

Did german carriers always come with unpainted rivets ?

Could it be a dutch post war ?

Absolutely not dutch post war

Only dutch post war shovels look like german ww2 ones (but are wider)... the carriers of post war dutch shovels are very different......

btw, I see absolutely no problems with the carrier in this thread.....

Tom is correct (of course)! The first pattern carriers were very well made and finished. Painted rivets are common. Here's mine (Rud. Vordemberge, Osnabrück, 1940):
