    RB.Nr. who is who

    Hello!

Just wondering if anybody has a source where RB.-Nr. and the real firms behind are listed.

I´m searching for the firm behind the Nr. 0/1255/0007.

    Many thanks in advance!!

is there an Rb nr. database? Usually when you ask people know who it is so perhaps a database would be a good idea

The best someone that I could find came up with so far is that the first digit represents country of manufacture, second set of digits is city. It seems that 99% of samples have the first digit as a "0", while there are numerous examples of the first digit being a "1". It gets cloudy after that. Some examples exist with a "2" and a "9", but they are usually viewed as controversial.

        Hi all

I have thru my collecting of German items I collect mostly ammo pouches found a few doubbel stamped items that could helps us somehow to understand how this code system is constructed. Up to now I simply have to little samples for speaking up and say anything; except for some of my own guesstimates and suggestions something other membes have as well.

I have found that the numbers not relate to a specific items but somehow is random to an item. But I need more knowledge for dividing the nine ciphers into "blocks" thats say anything about makers location and item specification.

I believe my own ammo pouches research have indicated there is some relation on the first five digits and the last four digits and that way the last four digits maybe tells something the production amount or batch number. It's based on the evidence from some pouches with identical apperance and first five numbers but where the last four differs.

Anyway to my knowlwdge no book nor papers excist to break this code just luck and hard work will do it but I only can recommend collectores around to display whatever item with doubbel info's.

You guy's are welcome to take contact I'll gladly collect such info's and publish when we have the evidence for the correctness is clear.

        Regards

        Kim

In my research over the past many years I have found archival information concerning the Reichsbetriebsnummer system and the associated Reichsbetriebskartei system of registering and recording the factory information. I published this information some years ago in an article in the magazine of our National Automatic Pistol Collectors Association, as the information I found concerned two factories of the Waffenfabrik Walther and the J.P. Sauer & Sohn. From the Reichsbetriebskarten of these factories, I found conclusively that the middle set of four digits in the numerical series indicated the Kreis in which the factory was located and the last four digits indicated the factory within that Kreis. The Kreis numbers are organized according to a national listing of some kind, not based on Gau or Land organization. I have not been able to find the master list as yet.

How about we pool all of our knowledge of factories and RB numbers and create a small database of known factories and numbers? This would be a start.

Here are a few things that I have noticed.

Items manufactured by companies in Berlin always had a 0250 as the first set of 4 numbers.

Other big cities ended in a 50 ie,0350,0450,0850 etc.

Items made in Poland had a 1349 as the first or second set of #'s but I forget which.

Well I'm going to have a trawl and see how many I can find. I'll start us off with one from a recent thread with Y straps. I saw one id'd a day ago or so but I cant seem to find it. If anyone objects to me lifting the numbers and names from their posts tell me
                    Matt

                    0/0267/0001 Gustav Schiele in Loburg

                    0/0150/0004 LEDERWARENWERK CURT VOGEL COTTBUS

0/1032/0001 Carl Clauberg & Co Solingen

                    0/0485/0002 jablunkau

                    0/0499/0026 Carl Bocke

0/0561/0020 Paul Weyersberg (this is on gravity knives and depending on what type the number goes 0/0561/0018 0/0561/0019 0/0561/0020 )

                    0/0251/0111 Fa. W. Zahn, Berlin

WOW this page is quite something!!

                      Hi

Thanks for your notes as a beginning I can say that your observations minus one correspond to my research so that's indeed a start. About the reading on the Curt Vogel allow me correcting. I have an exampel that say 0/0150/0004 instead of yours /0001 I could believe the /0001 either was a misread on my example the stamping is very clear; or we have the usual "problem" we can't understand how the system is constructed so some few digits or ciphers differs from another on similar pouches so are we talking misreads? Yes in some occasions but we probably face as said before a kind of "Batch" or contract number from the same maker. Who knows!!
Anyway we need a lot of informations to solve the riddle!! I have some numbers other members have some I am very interested to pool as informations together but why not let our administratores or moderatores made a tread/link where we can type in our informations? Thourghts anyone.

Are the information about 0/0485/0002 bullet proof?? What do the maker produce I only have seen and own leather products (ammo pouches) etc. marked with this RB. Nr number. To me Jablunkau is a metal maker doing medals etc. but am I wrong here!!

                      Regards

Very interesting guys. Feldwebel mentioned that all Berlin codes had the first set as 0250. Gebrisjager77 states that 0251 is a Berlin maker. So far it seems as if Berlin makers would be in the 0250 series. Sound right?

Harry I would love if we had solved that part of the riddle and just to be party spoiler we then only are missing to solve some other 100.000 cities or more but anyway it could look as an interesting start.

I forgot to ask previously Carl Bocke what do he produced back then.

Kim, what do you think about all the different gravity knives types by the smae maker having all different end codes 18,19,20 .

Matt I have noticed that fact all thru I only have seen two of the numbers previously on a pictures but excatly that evidence have make me thinking about the batch numbers idea as the last digits explanations? But I somehow feel sorry for not being totally convinced yet. But I think we are moving in the right direction.
