    Gas mask mustard camo scheme

Has anyone seen a gas mask cannister with hand painted camouflage under the lid?

This cannister was reported to have been brought back by a veteran who fought in Tunisia and in Sicily, and possibly in Italy too.

The cannister and the mask are dated 1942. The cannister has been hand painted in a nice mustard tan colour. The underneath of the lid has been painted too. It has not been painted inside the small compartment for spare lenses or inside the cylinder surface of the corrugated canister that holds the gas mask.

    Thanks!

          Gustav,
Do you think it's period done ? It looks like factory sprayed
It looks very nice but my first thought was that it was reused post war for civil defense. A tan/mustard factory sprayed, except the late ordonance tan, would be a first for me
