I don't know much about the carrier, it looks good to me, but I know nothing much about them. The spade, however, looks a little DDRish. Could you give a photo of just the spade itself, especially the cupped side of the blade?
Are there any markings stamped into the steel?

            Dave

              Thanks

              Thanks David,

I'll see if the seller has a pic of the cupped side, and if the carrier has any marked labeling.

I'm new to the equipment aspect of collecting, but I'm trying to set up a field display. Initially the spade looked good to me, just based on pics I have, I've never picked one up. Can you or anyone else tell me what to exactly look for?

              Thanks,
              Pat

                Hi<O

Normally both the spade and the carrier have some kind of markings/stamping the forum have previous treads about E-tools you maybe could take a look at those.
Anyway the carrier often have stampings inside the type depends of the age it can be name or tree letter code and year. The spade mostly has the makers mark or tree letter code on the front side embossed in the metal.

Some equipment are/was delivered to the WH without any markings? But only rarely! Personally I don't go for unmarked equipment except for stuff I know very well or stuff with a history.

Hope it helps to move forward.<O

Based on what I see, I would pass on it. The fold on the spade metal looks not right and the cover, looks new. Strictly an impression.

Thanks to all for the insight on the Spade! I'll continue my spade search for my display.

                    Thanks again,
                    Pat
