I never saw markings like that before so I am equally puzzled. I'll be watching to see responses from others. Ive always seen the standard 3 letter codes. also the date stamp is not the same strike as the letters.

Yes, they are WW2 markings - see: Pinned: Luft flight equipment and all that's related. above - page 13 - there is watterbottle with exactly the same markings - but with year 41

Hi Matt,
That just leaves the paint to the discussion then. It looks like the rim on the lid has some damages under the paint. If this is the case, it's probably repainted.

Could it de a mint DDR Messtin, I have several of this pattern but someones done the dirty with a stamp on this one..... I hope it is a real one though.Comment

actually Matt. you should just keep a daily eye out on Ebay. believe it or not there are good tins every once in awhile there. I just got a great one a couple of weeks ago. I posted it here. I'm sure one will come your way soon unless your looking for a specific maker/ year. if so, let me know. I'm always searching all the sites. Glenn
