    Equipment Tin, ID Help Needed.

I was lucky enough to purchase what looks like a veterans bring back grouping of items, most i belive were kept over the years in this metal box. The only markings i can find is a large ''bwz'' mark to the bottom right of the box. the two rear loops would make me belive this would have been carried on a belt. Would anyone know what this tin was used for?

I believe it is an ammo box for a panzerbüchse 39 rifle. I'm sure I'v got a better pic somewhere, if i find it I'll post it.

My mistake...I was too fast. Your's has a cutout and two straight loops while the Pb39 has no cutout and only one loop turned 1/4 round.

It is chemical defence related item ( bwz - AUER if I remember well - is chemical defence equipment maker ). Tom ( MP44_tom ) should say something more about it.

                          No Need to be confused.....

These have nothing to do with flare ammo (books are sometimes wrong too )

This box was used to hold the tubes which were used for the so called Gasanzeiger....

bwz is indeed Auer Gesellschaft AG, Werk Oranienburg

                          This is the Gasanzeiger

and this the box with contents

They were used by the so called "Gasspüreinheiten" which were specially trained units for detecting gas.

here some pics from a german manual

                              Hi

Once in a while I see one, but almost all the time with the inserts removed..... so they are not easy to find
