Hello to all.
I've just bought my second Afrika Korps Canteen on the internet.
My first was a very nice one , almost not used. (The foto with the big Green cup) He's also marked at the right places:
- "Ritter patent" on the hook that to attach to the breadbag
- "H B S " on the ends of the iron parts of the canvas straps
- "DRP. ang." on the gripper buckle
HRE 43
- D.R.G.M. on the canteen itself
H.R.E. 43
D.R.P. angm
18
- "D.R.P. gem" on the iron part attached to the screw on cap
My WRONG canteen is only marked with: ( the other foto's)
- D.R.G.M. on the canteen itself
H.R.E. 41
D.R.P. angm
- with the correct marking on the wooden part of the cup and on the cap.
The Belts and especially the hook and the gripper buckle seem to be fakes. The also should be marked. (as far as I know.) I think he has been restored. So only the bakelite parts and the wooden canteen is original, but the rest isn't.
I've never such a strange combination.
I'm very curious how you think about this canteen.
Greetings from Holland,
Frank
