question about gasmask

Hello guys. I got recently this gasmask whit AUER canister. Looks like a GM30 model, for civil use, but this one have a different "snout" than I've ever seen. Maybe this one is made for other countries?

This is a Norwegian gas mask, it's called the M-34 and is made by Viking. The filter and the cannister do not belong to this mask. It has been made in license but as you know with different exhale valve/filter inlet assembly.

Is the mask still supple or is it somewhat hard? They are pretty uncommon masks but usually only desired by true gas mask collectors like myself.

Thanks for answer and all aditional info Uncle Goose. Very interesting, but funny is that this gasmask was found in condition like this in my country (Slovenia), whit this type of filter and canister. Do you think that maybe germans ship some of this models to some occupied parts of 3. Raich for luftschutz?
I would say gasmask is quite soft.

It's possible that it's a captured mask because the Germans did it with the Czech gas masks too. These "Beutemaske" were indeed issued to Luftschutz so I don't see why this wouldn't have been possible with these Norwegian masks. And since it's 40mm filter-thread they could easily use the German filters. The Germans were quite handy with using captured stocks so this could be the case with this mask too.

So you say that this gasmask was produced in Norway?
Just talk to one gasmask guy and he said that they were produced for Norway in Austria.

yes, they are made in Norway by the company Viking who acquired a license to make them from Germany before the war. Care to share who this gas mask guy was? It's a small world and perhaps I know him.
