Thanks for the response Manny... but I don't understand your point. The late war frog is much shorter below the point where it is retained by the stud on the scabbard, which allows the loop on the carrier to ride higher on the bayonet. I'm not saying that I am correct, I just don't understand your point as the late war frog is definately shorter in overall length than the regular frog.

heres some pics of my shovel/ carrier withe the bayonet/ frog attached. the frog is dated '43. see how it rests at a slight angle. is this type of frog not meant for these carriers or whatever-whatever?

I guess what I'm trying to get across is that the bottom of the frog pushed against the scabbard loop which in turn lifts the waist belt, so when worn it would shove it at an angle. (I'm probably seeing to deep into this, huh? thats what happens when you have an OBSESSION! ) Damn this hobby, it will take over your life!

This is the point that I am trying to make... if you use the late war frog you don't have this problem because the frog will sit lower in the loop and not force everything on an angle. I guess that's why the theory came to be that the narrow frogs were developed to correct this problem. Although some of you seem to think that this theory is incorrect, the fact remains that the narrow frogs do work better when used with the shovel carrier. But I guess no one really knows...
