    check out my new carrier

well guys. she finally arrived and I love her! with the help (info) from Manny I went for this puppy on ebay and won. it cost me a decent penny but in my mind unupgradable and just what I was looking for. clearly maker marked "cqr" and dated 1943. it even has a WaA ink stamp on the inside of the carrier. its fully functionable and rates a strong 8 out of a 10. goes great with my M/M '43 dated "H" folding shovel. one more perfect piece (in my mind) for my mannequin. I'm getting closer to the end and am very happy with what I have so far. one day when He's complete I will post him and let everyone bask in its glory! but for now one piece at a time. a new thrill every blue moon when I get that "special" piece. I'm sure you all know what I mean. take care, Glenn

actually, I had one question about this. it looks as though the bayonet holder (strap) wasnt really used. were these typically not used because they werent really functional? I tried to wear it last night but the bayonet was put into a strange position when it was placed thru the loop. do you guys who have them on maqnnequins put the scabbard thru it or no. any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Glenn

              Glenn,
try passing the belt inside the frog's loop AFTER you've stuck the bayo sheat INSIDE the carrier's loop !

I was under the impression that the late war narrow frogs (so called SS frogs) were designed to fit with the shovel carrier, or am I mistaken?

I'm afraid so Steve, since these carriers had been around well before that date and since Germans were rather "standardized" in some cases!
The "SS" frogs loop is identical to the "regular" one and you should start measuring it from the top (loop),and not from the bottom!
                      Welcome and Happy 2005

It is really nice piece of equipment .

Although this is thread about the carrier, I have one question about Glenn's shovel. Is it known which maker indicates markings seen on picture #3? Thanks in advance.

I wish to all of you happy new year and many great new arrivals in your collections!

I've been trying to find out the shovel's maker for quite some time now with no luck. the Ruptured Duck has the EXACT same shovel for sale on his site. I have also seen a few others in my passing bys but no one can shed light on it. I'm huge into makers marks so if anyone out there knows I'd love to hear it. thanks, Glenn
