    Post-War Equipment Strap?

Is the black strap a BGS strap? It has an aluminum rivet and odd stitching and black. It was wrapped around a WW2 messkit.

Other strap is a wartime marked one for comparison.

        Hey Jeff,
Yes it does look like a BGS strap, its also dyed black right? Notice the stiching. The other one is good, its amazing how similar they are,

          Hi guys,

I have 2 of these in my collection which I bought a long time ago from a well known dealer. Back then I didn't knew either these were post-war...interesting is that mine have a leather patch over the rivet-head as found on genuine ones. Apart from the dyed black color and the 'artificial feeling', also the X-stitching and the black thread used are give-aways.

          Cheers

                Thanks Guys.

Jan - Yours looks just like mine except the cover on the rivet.

                  Hi Jan,

The 'X' factor is something quite commonly seen on period stitching.

Yes, thanks bart, but on these particular ones, it's a give away no?

                    Cheers
