Here is a (bad) shot of the stiffener inside the arms.
It is difficult to get at this, but it is a material which is found in a very commonplace item of equipment indeed.
Despite posting all these detail shots i'll not say what it is publically

I'd like to broaden things a little at this point to try to show what German webbing looks like further.
As Manny has stated items have been produced from scraps of webbing, but some collectors may not have an opportunity to see or handle period webbing in their day to day collecting circles ( that included me a couple of years ago).
We have also seen that people are losing hard earned cash to items that are not even made from correct period webbing so hopefully this diversion will help things.Comment
