    A-frames or Rucksacks

can anybody help me..when did the Army stop using A-frames and use rucksacks?
Did they still use A-frames in 1945?

    Hi,

The WH never entirely stopped using A-frames.

Some units may have dropped them for rucksacks before others but to some extent they would have been in use for the duration of the war, and they were produced late into the war to a lesser extent as well.

Obviously rucksacks became more common as the war progressed, but both types of load carriage systems were in use in 1945.

This is my understanding but maybe someone can expand on the topic more.

    Regards,
    -Steve

I'm guessing that you asking; when Germans stop producing A-frames and start making sturmrucksacks ( those with 2 straps pernamently attached to backpack to carry Zelthbahn ) , am I right ?
If so than production of A-frames (along with folding shovels ) stop somewhere in very late 1943 early 1944.

But those A-frame which had been made before that were still in use until very end of war.
