    WH Issue Blanket...

    Fellas,
I am looking for any information on these blankets. I know they are of wartime issue. Is there any more info. on these pattern blankets available? Also, does anyone have any pics of them being used? As always any help would be great.

    Thanks,
    Jon

    Nice Blanket...

Does it have a H.U. stamp somewhere ? I wish I could tell you more about these, but the only thing I know that they are war time issue.

Maybe someone can shed more light on these...

      Tom,
No, no stamps. Some have been seen with a little rayon tag for anti-moth treatment. Ja, these are well known to be wartime German issue. I was looking for more info. about them and pictures if possible. Hopefully somone can turn the light on about these.

      Thanks,
      Jon

I'm not positive, but I think there might be a photo - perhaps in color - in the book "The Onslaught - the German drive on Stalingrad". Don't have the book so I can't check. Somewhere else I've seen a photo of one...I'll look in what few books I have. Good luck!

          Hi Jon,
yes, they're WH-Issue blanket, and the HU stamp and(sometimes) a hoheitsadler are found on one of the corner, they were often fire-stamped,but when they were ink-stamped they were prone to be canceled by washing!
Other blankets with two blue stripes, with a white one(on buff-colored blankets) or no stripes at all(ditto) can also be found!

Very interesting! Was this the same sort of fire stamp like what you see burned into the bottom of of the barrack stools? I've only seen a couple of these blankets and never saw an ink stamp, but I wasn't looking for a branded mark. I'll have to check mine, but its so worn I don't think I'll find anything.

boy that brings back memories although the ones i saw were grey and marked...was assisting cleaning out a US Army storage area in GARMISCH Germany 1982 and we had to move piles of WH blankets. Wonder what happened to them?

It's not HV bu HU which stands for Heeres Unterkunft (Army Procurement??) maybe accomodation is a better word ?

This is what the stamp should look like (aproximately that is )

The picture is from atthefront, famous for it's repros, but I couldn't find an original picture at this moment.
