How can one even tell if a cannister is painted in the 40's or the 50's, you might tell if a cannister is painted in the last decade or so but paint of so long ago I think it's impossible to tell exactly when applied.
    I collect camo items and i can assure that, in wartime period, germans were usually to use every kind of paint they find.

    I have many sudfront camo gasmasks and every canister is camouflaged with a different paint.

    I agree with you when you say that it's hard to judge a paint from 50's, especially when you have to analyze a "not-standard" color.
