VW furnace / VW ofen

I had a walk in an old wehrmacht camp this morning and I came across some furnace/ofen marked with the VW logo. I did not know that Volkswagen also maked furnace/ofen during the war.

Are you sure it's not just the box off a post - ww2 truck?

Hi Brian. No It is an furnace/ofen. It has fire plates inside and I just phoned one of the Norwegain war time museums and asked about this. He told me that VW made thies on order from wehrmacht but he also said this VW furnace/ofen are very rarely seen.

So used for heat in camps?
Or cremation furnace?

For heating up small cabins. I found them in a camp close up to the mountain in northern norway.
