Hi, I got this gasmask out of the woods some years ago. Time to show it I guess. The canister is painted in Südfront beige. The webbing straps are beige as well and differ in colour from the normal green ones. The name of the soldier is painted on the bottom and inside. In the canister is a normal GM30, it came as a set as it is. I am 100% sure the lot is as it should be......worn and original ;-)

One question...was the colour applied in the field or at the factory? As the belts are tan as well I would think this is factory made, but the internals are always green (normal colour)?

The can is spray painted in the "field" but usually that means in a unit's workshop where vehicles and equipment where maintenanced. They usually had a place where they painted vehicles and every now and then they would camouflage or repaint helmets, gas mask canisters, boxes etc etc etc…
