Early war Y-straps

    Early war Y-straps

    Gents
    I'd love to get some more thoughts on this pair of Early war 1939 dated Y-straps.

    The short belt support strap looks a bit funny to me? But it allso looks like it is connected to the rest of the straps for a very long time.

          Backstrap is from a tornister, rest is ok.

          Edit:

          Hmm they are remade tornister straps...

              That would be my guess as well, remade tornister straps made to look like Y straps

                Another point is that in fact there are two different makers marks on the
                straps.
                One is stamped E.Lüneschloss ,Solingen and the other is from Wittkop,Bielefeld.
                Never seen the first maker so far.

                  There is ofcourse a chance that this is a last ditch Ystrap made from parts. (i dont belive it, that backstrap would really not work for example)

                  But, the overall condition says this is recently done. The parts that are newly sewn are full of some grease, probably to make the overall look better.

                  Ofcourse, its all my opinion only..

                      i have it in hands and i'm not seeing the new sewed part, could you point that out please.

                        It is hard to tell something without hand inspection. I have in collection two Y-straps reworked from ponny fur backpack and from LW backpack.

                          no way of telling when the tornister straps were put together, but surely not in 39

                          to be honest, i've never seen this construction, where a separate part is sewn over the O-ring and the Tornister strap

                            i do have owned as pair in the past made that way from tornister straps ,two other pairs i have seen in collections,not a unknow variant.

                              surely not a 1939 set for a serious collection - but a reworked put together straps from a LW backpack straps. maybe a modern job too
