    GJ Climbing rope

    Hello,

    my fleamarket find today.

Is it a climbing rope (Bergesil) or a safety rope?

    Length: 25m Diameter: 12mm

the middle of the rope is marked with a blue stripe.

    Stephan

      Very Cool.

I don't think that a 25m x 12mm blue stripe would be a climbing rope. I thought they were a little skinnier (like 10 or 11mm) and had a red stripe, but I'm still learning about this stuff.

I look forward to some other replies to increase my knowledge in this area.

No matter what the final decision on that - I'm still envious of your find.

        Thank you both!

Here is a thread about the climbing rope - Bergführer Kiser wrote that the standard climbing rope has a diameter between 10-14mm (correct me if I'm wrong)

        Where are the other GJ-experts?

Apparently WE are the only losers looking at a computer screen this weekend. Good for them, bad for us.

            Grüß Di' Stephan,

I think it's a good climbing rope...though the stripe looks green to me. I have several ropes in my collection. One just like yours with the green stripe, one with a red stripe, and a couple with no marker thread stripes. Great find.

            Berg Heil,

            Patrick

Red stripe, Green stripe, who cares (I'm red-green color blind and I use it as an excuse all the time!). I think the rope I used in the US Army was all green. I'm not sure if it was safe, but we weren't repelling down hunderds of feet.

Well, we woke up Patrick again. Thanks for the update Patrick.
