    Ersatzstoff e-tool carrier - opinions?

    Gentlemen,

what are your opinions about this Ersatz(?) leather carrier.

according to the sellers story, his father salvaged a bunch of them from a stricken ship. Postwar he removed the longer leather strap as useful leather was scarce back then.

I was not able to find a marking anywhere, but the leather is quite stiff and though he cleaned it before selling it you can still see the dirt and dust that has collected in the recesses.

    Thanks,
    Chris

The owner has 8 pieces of them, all with the strap ripped off, all same condition.
As he stated they were taken by his father, stored in a box and not touched for the last 70 years.
I can hardly believe he would damage all of them in the same way.
I compared it to all the photos of fake pouches that I have and none looks like this.
Also wouldn't a faker put some kind of price-lifting stamp on it?

Hope to hear some more opinions, so hopefully someone can confirm if real or fake.

        Cheers,
        Chris

In my opinion cover which started this thread is good, wartime made. What is more I believe that all from the bunch were damadged in same way in order to cut longest leather straps and use them somwhere else. Normal for after war economy, seen plenty of items reused this way straight from the woodworks

            Thanks Grubhy.
In my opinion the pouch is good.
If you spread the layers of leather you can see the dust and dirt that has collected underneath and that is something a faker cannot easily do, nor would the effort make any sense.

Do you have pictures from the side of the cover ?

Nice original cover; there is nothing wrong with ( except for missing long strap ).

Professionally restored pouches. These are the 5 pouches out of 8 that I do not need, 3 I kept for myself.

The pictures are gone but can still be seen PN Google:
