3 tone camo gas mask can

    Hi all,

this weekend I found a lot of 4 gas mask cans. All very corroded. Couldn't even open 3 of them, since they were rusted shut. 3 of them did have the gas masks inside, but water poured out of them, so no high hopes of recovering good masks. Indeed, at home I gave the cans some TLC, and unfortunately all masks were lost to corrosion.
After some careful light cleaning of the gas mask cans, it turned out that 2 of the 4 cans have a 3 tone camo finish.
Here I am showing the better of the 2.

German militaria is no longer my collecting focus, and I have been out of that field for about 15 years now. I am however interested in knowing what the can might be worth, as I am more then probably offering this one up for trade to a friend. I would like to know a possible value, because I would like to offer it at a fair value to the potential trading party.

Some info on the can; about 40% paint remains overall (but it difficult to see due to the rust bleeding), missing the the closing handle, named inside, insides are great and have no issues.

    Tell me what you think.
    Thanks very much,
    Stijn

A few years back I have sold a canister that was in a slightly better condition with straps and I believe a mask for 150 euro. Considering this one has no accessories and the closing mechanism is missing I'd value this piece around 50€.

Sorry, but I don't really see the three tone paint, appears more like a light green overpaint to me, but due to the general condition, it's hard to say. The fact that the closing latch mechanism is missing does take away a lot from it's value.

        yeah.. €50 tops..

Here is one can who was almost in the same state, bought for €50, rusty & broken - which i repaired the hinges and latch, sand blasted and repainted. Primer & feldgrau. Then "Normandy Camo". It was my 1st refurbish project.
