German ammo can (Patronenkasten 34) with a blue cover

    Greetings!

Did you ever come across a german ammo can with a blue cover? It is painted over the standard grey/green paint. It is a can for petroleum and oil cans. The blue paint looks quite old, to me it is a war period layer. It has all the normal scratches from being used in the field. It is painted in a way to not cover the number on the top, under the main handle. Any ideas about the blue colour? Maybe it is to distinguish the maintenance box amongst ordinary ammo cans?

Yes - and other blue stuff, too:

Yes - I know that blue paint was used for a camouflage. But in this particular case it is about the blue colour on covers of ammo cans.

Never seen an ammo can with the cover painted that blue...but you could be right , it could be to make it easily differenciated from ammo cans. That would be done at lower unit level armourer.
