    German Zeltbahn???

    Hey guys,

I just need an identification of the typ of Zeltbahn used by a LW member during the Ardennes Offensive...

It looks af first glance like a normal German Zeltbahn...but look at the front flap please.

A double row of buttons/grommets? Lack of Splittertarn camouflage?

Can anyone please identify it, and post a picture (in color) of such a Zeltbahn?

    Thx in advance!

    Greetz,

    Grüß Di' fireman,

Looks like a standard issue Zeltbahn. Front flap looks like a standard issue Zeltbahn. Double row of buttons looks like a standard issue Zeltbahn. Wet from the rain Splittertarn looks like a standard issue Zeltbahn. Must be a standard issue Zeltbahn.

Not sure what you mean popo, it looks to me like a standard Zeltbahn buttoned up as per regulations (Thanks to Tom ) - scroll down on the page in the link:

      http://www.mp44.nl/equipment/zelt_use.htm

On the darker side of the Zeltbahn its often is difficult to see the Splittertarn pattern on black and white photos (even worse when wet), the different colours were some times not that pronounced to each other especially on some later war Zelts, but I can see traces of it for instance on the soldiers (pointing) right arm.

        @ BergführerKiser & Sonnenwende,

Thx guys, you're right...I forgot to think about the buttoned-up front flap...which shows a "double" row of buttons then...
Sorry...I had to think about it!

And about the camouflage pattern, If the cape is wet, I presume the pattern is harder to see indeed...

        Anyway, thanks a lot!

        Greetings,

Yes I too believe definetly US mittins or gloves and flashlight. Shelter quarter is standard issue IMO first picture german is not holding a standard K98K maybe Czech or Belgium but not K98 look at the top wood and underneath sling. timothy
