Original Y-strap question.

The straps look good. I too have seen the D rings at different angles. Some sets you can see that they were originally sewn one way, then moved to the other position. The story I got on this was that soldaten prefered them to be sewn at an angle so that when they wore their Aframe or rucksack it was easier to put on because the D rings would then be straight up and down with the A frame/rucksack hooks.HC

Straps look ok to me, I have one too (dated 1944), although I'm not too sure about the endpiece.....
Do you have better pictures of it ?? (the endpiece I mean)

Do you have a complete picture of the end piece (with leather) ?
This type of end piece is seen a lot on post war Y straps, although I do believe the Y straps themselves are original.
btw, original end pieces are often offered on ebay for reasonable prices
