    Uppercase letters

Hello to all and Happy New Year!

Please a question: someone knows the origins of the three uppercase letters often visible on german equipments?

    Thanks in advance,
    Andrea

Upper case are (almost) always abbreviations of makers

f.i. HRE -> Heinrich Ritter, Esslingen

In internet I've found a database, a mess kit WBL 28 dated is the oldest example... unfortunately without pics!

                Hello!

In my digital archive I've found this example.
This seems like a rather old german canteen and I think that the cup has nothing to do with it!
                Opinions are welcome..
