    Sling ID

    Greetings,

Any ideas as to the manufacturer?

Doesn't look like a typical German made MP-40 sling. The leather is 49" long unbuttoned. There's no markings other than the die stamped "MP 40".

    Thanks for looking.

I don't think it is german, mp40 stamp is not original, IMO copy made in US by gun dealer to get better price for MP

Thanks for the comment and link. Lots of nice photos on that site.

I thought perhaps the sling is Austrian but their slings have a much different stitching, texture and color.

This sling looks a bit too "used" to be a reproduction. Looks like it was installed on a weapon for awhile.

But this reproduction could be made 50 years ago, to sell MP with brand new looking strap on US market (but this is only my theory)

After some research, I believe this sling is actually a WW2 Italian copy of the K98 sling. Supposedly, it's for the short Carcano or Beretta MAB SMG.
