      Hello

Please, what is the difference between pre-war and post-war?

      Thanks

He means there never was a war time version used by the Germans. In other words, a fantasy piece.
I too warned about this fraud just recently http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=640976

I made the same mistake myself, hence I wanted to warn others. I saw the grinder in this oft referenced book, it is the only book that depicts it as WW2 as far as I know, and it looked a 'must have' addition to my collection so I bought one off ebay.de. I then did the research (idiot I know) afterwards and found that they were 1950s and there are no period photographs in use. The seller may not know either to be fair. I put mine back on ebay.co.uk as a coffee grinder and it went for more than I paid so not all bad!

                John,
Thank you for providing this information. Ever since I first saw them for sale in the last 5 or so years, i thought they would be a nice addition to a personal effects display. Now we know better.

The reference book used by the seller showing the "TRAMP" appears to be "Der Infanterist des Deutschen Heer"

Der Infanterist des deutschen Heeres: Uniform und Ausrüstung 1939-1945 (German) Hardcover <!-- use pre formatted date that complies with legal requirement from media matrix -->– Nov 2008
by Agustin Sáiz Martinez (Author), Karl-Peter Veltze (Translator), Bernd Retzlaff (Translator)

                  Just under £40.00 new.

I guess that it goes to prove that just because something is in a book does not guarantee authenticity! It is a shame as it looks a very well illustrated book but makes you wonder what else is questionable.

The "bakelite" matchbox in the picture is bad too.

A lot of items shown in this book is rubbish - fakes/ copies or postwar made. It is full of mistakes and is not the best reference book at all.

Unfortunately it was also shown in Vol I of my ration book. Unfortunately we focused most of our attention on the rations themselves and didn't screen the equipment as closely as we should have. I've flagged it for deletion if a second edition is ever printed. Jim

Ps I read the post by bubble and I'm confused. I understand these mills weren't manufactured specifically for the Wehrmacht, but he leaves open the possibility that they made have been a private purchase item that could have been used by German soldiers. He stated that he got that info from the manufacturer. Did I read that correctly or was something missing in translation.
