K98 bajonet and photoalbum

Guys,

Just came back from a meeting with the daughter of a veteran. She gave me his name, bajonet and his personal photoalbum. To me, this is priceless. The history of a veteran in photo's and equipment. Many thanks to the daughter who was kind enough to trust me with this material. I will give it a nice place in my collection to preserve history and his many stories.

I would not trust Jackal Congrats! What is the story behind pictures?

The album itself contains about 150 pictures. All from period 33-45. The veteran served with the 56. INFANTERIE-DIVISION as an enlisted men (as shown from the photo's). Before that he was in the HJ. He fought in Poland, Belgium, Russia and i think in Prussia. I still have to do more research from the pictures but the above mentioned seems to be correct.

He married during the war and was send to fight in Russia and after that in Prussia (?). He got wounded badly. His right shoulder was almost blown away. His daughter told me that an American docter fixed hem up (in fact prevented the loss of his complete right arm/shoulder). He lost one lung in the proces.

His daughter also told me that he was taken prisoner by the Russians. Was put in a prisioncamp but after the war suddenly somebody was standing at the door. His wife and child(eren) couldn't believe it, as he was standing there. One of the few soldiers who made it home.

After the war he and his wife had more childeren. Talking about the war was difficult, his daughter told me. He died at the age of 89. RIP.
