Heavy Canvas Pouch ID

I am not sure if it is German or not - but looking to ID it.
It is well made and top flap has cut-outs on both sides. Bottom corners have leather reinforcements. No markings. It has no handles or attachments for the strap.
Also the canvas is pretty thick and whole pouch is pretty sturdy.
It is 6" wide, 8" deep and 12" high.

Are these Cut-outs on the Lid on both sides?
If yes, they're the Tunnels for the Strap attached to the Content.
Cover for some Equipment.

Yes, cut-outs are on both sides of the lid and main body of the pouch.
It looks similar to British gas mask pouches but it is larger and heavier.
Maybe some battery case ?
