2 questions: Cleaning chain + Mauser strap

    Hi Guys.

A friend of mine gave me these 2 items:

    1. A cleaning chain for a pistol, he thinks it is WWII, but I am not sure - what do you think, in the picture it is with a standard chain for a k98.

    2. A standard strap for a Mauser k98. It has been cut down in the width. Again my friend think this has been done in WWII for a different us by the germans - and again I am not sure - have some of you see this before?

    Best regards
    Stengaard

PS: I posted this tread in the firearms forum, but I received no answers, so I hope a little more luck here

    Hi

Chain is for small caliber rifles (.22)

There was a special RG34 for .22 rifles (5,6 mm if I'm not mistaken)

As for the strap, I see no reason to cut it down for a german soldier (all rifles could handle this strap) so it is probably cut down to fit another rifle... when this was done ?? who knows

You can see an example of the .22 RG 34 here :

      (it's on page 3)

Thanks Tom, you could have a point with the chain

but then someone has shortened it

Concerning the strap, I think you are right.

        Thanks again
