Just wanted to share this one with you. What's the rough translation on the top, can anyone help me understand the phrase?

"höchstes glück des soldaten ist die tat"

Is that thing real?

Maybe a better translation is:
The Soldiers greatest happiness is his Action

Thank you for your help. The crazing goes through the graphics and it came back with other authentic items. Anyone else have an opinion? What does the bottom of the plate say? The lettering on the underside is very blurry and hard to read, any ideas? On the top the writing looks German but the second line looks like it says "Made in France" in English.
