Determining the age of a Mercator K55K knife?

We're probably all familiar with the ubiquitous Mercator K55K knives that have been made more or less the same way for generations, and undoubtedly found their way into the pockets of countless soldiers during the war. Does anyone know if there are any tell-tale signs to determine if a particular example is WWII vintage or earlier?

Hi, sorry for my poor English, I'm from Crimea.
Yes, there is a way to distinguish between different time issued Mercators.
All folders marked D.R.G.M. are Third Reich time, also all multytool Mercators are pre-war items. The marking such as Mercator- Germany tells us that is post-war knives.
And at last, there is folders with single marking Mercator or Solingen, that is WWII issue too.
