Hi all,

I'm no expert on these things but does this look ok and original and what would one expect to pay for an item like this ?

Well, the leather strap around the neck for securing the bottle is missing and the salty condition of the setup otherwise I would say 40-50 Euros providing the cup is original.

First of all ; it is not AFRIKA KORPS canteen - there is no photo eveidnece of using them in North Africa during fights . But there is plenty of photos of those canteens used in Europe . It is safer to call TROPICAL canteen.

second ; it is nice original piece. lately those sells around 100 euro ( mint one ) but yours has damages to the strap so it is worth less - I would say 50-70 euro.

If I was you I would wait and find a complete one. This is not hard as there are plenty around.

I believe the price for this particular canteen can not be much over 50 euros if the buyer knows what he wants. I mean if you place the cup on the top it looks ok in display, but it's almost impossible to find a spare leather strap for the neck. Of course there are a lot of people who don't care mauch about some small detail which isn't showing anyway in their display and I'm not saying that you must take my given price as any criteria here. I.e. I have bought some of these cocos in much worse condition for 60-70 euros, but I also have two in mint condition which I bought first hand from the founder for 40 and 60 euuros per piece. Also, you should keep in mind that there are different market conditions in different countries and the magic of Ebay
