    Unknown Heavy Belt

This belt is a mystery to me. I can only find the size 90 stamped

    Anyone know what it is?

    Thank you,
    Bob Hritz on it.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

I always considered these to be Firefighter belts. Yours looks like it could be WW2 period...

Could also be a Strippenzieher's climbing belt (field telephone cable maintenance)...
Looks WH issue to me. I saw a picture somewhere of a Nachrichten soldier with climbing irons a a belt of this type.
Can't find the picture for now, however...

As it has only one Ring, it's a Fireman's Belt. Linemans Climbing Belts have two and no Ladder Hook. Your Belt is Upside down. The opening of the Hook goes down. If the Fireman slips from the Step, like from Water or Ice on the Ladder, he can push himself to the Ladder and the Hook grabs automatically into the Step and stops him from falling down. The one Ring is for securing himself with a Line and/or attaching the Hose while Climbing up or down.
Can be also modern, about 20 Years ago I bought nearly the same ones from the West Berlin Fire Department for our Boy Scouts Group for Reenactment.

You are absolutely right! I dug through the boxes and found the axe. Now, I still have it upside-down in the photo, but I will correct that.
