Help with LW rucksack and canteens...

    Hi Guys.

I made a post about a rucksack and some canteens, but in the wrong forum, I think!

    So I will try again.

What do you guys think about this and what are the value?

    Here are a few pics.

    Thanks a lot.

The LW used the rucksack in lieu of the tornister. It was for the transport of personal effects and kit by LW soldaten. The one depicted appears to meet the specifications and form of an original wartime piece.

The brown covered water bottle looks o.k (mid to late war characteristics are evident). The cup looks like it may have been repainted (it is common to see repaints which show that pattern of wear to the paint, less so in the case of pre-1945 paint jobs).

The blue covered water bottle is probably political (ie. non-military). It has the characteristics of the style used by the SA or HJ. The blue cover is odd. It could mean Marine SA or HJ ("sea scouts"). That said, it bears a strong resemblance to one which I have seen which is not of the period (ie. 1933-45). Both styles of water bottle were manufactured post-war, so the presence or absence of manufacturing markings on each is of critical importance. Since none are shown, the opinions expressed can only be general.

Price, as always, is relative. It is what someone is prepared to pay and you (as vendor) are prepared to accept.

Comparable items (in similar condition) are sold regularly on Estand. I would invite you to see how much they are offered for and the price they reach before being sold or withdrawn.
